What Is Hakomi Therapy?

“Hakomi” is a word coming from the Indigenous American Hopi Nation, which asks, “Who am I in relation to all realms?” Hakomi is a psychotherapy modality that uses mindfulness and somatic (body-based) techniques to help individuals explore and understand their unconscious beliefs and patterns. It’s a gentle and non-violent approach that emphasizes self-discovery through the body’s wisdom, facilitating deep healing and personal growth.

Who is Zarah?

A longtime Kundalini Yoga teacher and meditator, Zarah has been delving into and teaching various healing modalities for over 25 years. With her warmth, grounded energy, and knowledge of the body-mind connection she is able to hold a safe container for her clients. She trained in Toronto as a bereavement counsellor after the death of her mother, recognizing how important grief support was for her own healing, which lead her to become a therapist. She’s also a professional performing and recording musician, and her recent albums reflect the human condition and focus on love and healing,

Zarah completed the two-year program in Hakomi Psychotherapy with the Hakomi Institute in Calgary. Using the body as a guide, she’ll lead you towards uncovering what was unconscious and bringing it to the light, in a safe, secure space. Her love of dance, music, earth-honouring ritual and ceremony are often incorporated in her sessions. Bookr a complimentary 15-minute call to see if you resonate with her, and Hakomi.
